In the fourth verse of the twelfth chapter for the devotees of Formless and Attributeless divine by saying 'te prap nuvanti mameva' the Lord has talked about His own attainment by those seekers. This has been made clear that I am the essential element of the attributeless as well as of That with form and attributes. Here while describing the nature of the field the Blessed Lord has made it explicit that in the form of the knower of the field i. e. the soul or real-self is none else but Him-
Some of the revelations given in this verse which deserve thought are-one is the relationship between the field and the knower of the field-the name of the body is the field and the knower of the field is the embodied being which inhabits all the existences (sarva kshetreshu). This relationship between the field and its knower is all-enveloping and universal. Without the knower of the field, the field has no entity anywhere whatsoever. The second revelation is that the individual self and the Supreme Self are not different. In the form of the knower of the field the Lord Himself dwells in all. For the seekers of self-evolution, for progressing on the path of spirituality this is an encouraging inspiration. On reading this, there should remain no doubt as regards the relationship between the knower of the field and the individual soul and embodied being and the Supreme Self.
The knowledge of the field and its knower is the real knowledge. On reading this, do not have any doubt in your mind and do not get startled either. These words are of the absolute Supreme Brahmn in the context of the essential truth; the Gita is not the ideology of any traditional sectarian master. Ignorance begins with considering the body as T'. Where with the body instead of 'this' 'T' is associated there ignorance and delusions, sorrow, bondage in consequence thereof comes up. The reality is that the body is 'this' (idam). I am not the body and the body is not mine. The consciousness in the body is due to the consciousness of the embodied being. The existence of the field is due to its knower. This is the real knowledge; understand it with a spirit of enquiry and accept it with humility.
A more clear view of the knowledge of the distinction between the field and its knower is found in following inspiration-
