(Bhakti Yoga)

The inspirations from The Bhagvad Gita are useful equally, without discrimination for everybody. Whatever state or level of a person is, if he has desire for welfare in his mind; from the same state and level inspirations from the Gita provide him with assurance for the same. The Gita has a message of everybody and for everybody. Each person's value system, thoughts, emotions, nature and deeds are different. Therefore, according to one's mental state it is natural that some desire to know or questions may arise in the mind.

The Gita describes various ways and means for the welfare of the individual soul. The goal in essence is the same for everybody. Due to the difference of mental states methods are different. Sometimes there is a doubt, in the mind whether one particular method is the best or the other. This kind of a doubt if it remains in the mind, can turn one away from the path of welfare. If it comes out in the form of a doubt, it increases pace in the path of welfare. Hence in this state it is right to raise one's doubts; it is good to do so.

In the concluding shlokas of the 11th chapter along with the importance of devotion, devotion has also been described as means for the attainment of godhood. From this point the desire to know arose in Arjun's mind, that became the beginning of the 12th chapter. In order to know the nature of devotion Arjun expresses his doubts as follows.
