💬 Commentary English

Satoguna, rajoguna and tamoguna-every aspect of these three attributes is being taken up by the preacher of the Gita in depth. The nature, signs and the state of the being on departure from the body during the prevalence of any of the three attributes has been described and now the result of these three attributes is being narrated-Satvic or pure action is the highest amongst all actions. There is no doubt about it. The rajasic actions are desire-driven; the tendencies are of selfishness and greed. Rajoguna looks for the enjoyment of the fruits of action. The goal is not union with the Lord but indulgence. Where indulgence is the objective, painful consequence is bound to be there. The sorrow in this world is associated to subjugation to desire, anger, avarice, delusion, egoism. Tamasic action make the inner veil so thick that the being lives his life under complete subjection to delusion. There is no understanding in the least-neither pertaining to this world nor to the next! But satvic actions are the nobility of life. On performing them, the innermost self becomes pure. The impurities which are accumulated due to tamasic and rajasic actions are washed away by the satvic actions.
