The senses, mind and intellect are said to be its abode. This desire through the mind, intellect and senses deludes the embodied soul by veiling knowledge.
If one has to finish a dacoit or a robber, try to find out his centre. Where does he stay, where is his den, what are his activities. The desire is our foe but where does it reside, from where it can lead astray the seeker from the path of spiritual welfare. The senses, mind and intellect—all three have been called its abode. Otherwise, the right order of life is that the enlightenment of intellect should awaken. Intellect should rightly decide that the aim of life is not the attainment of fleeting and perishable worldly objects. The objective is the attainment of divine blessings, then the mind also engages in similar thoughts and the senses also act accordingly.
But due to the extroversion of the senses whatever is being seen outside the sense are pulled being towards it, the mind also craves for it and intellect also starts planning accordingly. These three are the chief potentialities and all of them are confined to worldly desires. Who else should resolve for elevation and think about it and progress on that path. No thought is going towards the objective of life; this is the state of the knowledge being covered. When the desire will subjugate intellect, the mind and senses then this state is natural. This has been described in the form of a warning by the deliverer of the Gita's sermon:
The life is confined to the enjoyment of sensual objects. Every sense is centred on its own sensual object. One feels this is all in life and there is nothing beyond. This is the state of the delusion of the embodied being. This state of affairs can be invariably observed in the society today. This is what is happening and life is getting narrowed down to it. Life is being seen and taken in this form only. This adverse scenario is appearing to grip the entire world. From this angle no welfare is involved in this state. There is downfall and only downfall. It causes the being to fall from this world and the world hereafter. That is why the Gopal of the Gita gives a clear verdict.
