Chapter 5 — Karma Sanyasa Yoga

Verse 24
🕉 Original Sanskrit Shloka

yo'ntaḥsukho'natarārāmastat-hāntarjyotireva yaḥ

sa yogi brahmanirvāņam brahmabhūto'dhigacchati

🕉 English Translation

Sukh atma se hee pataa hai jo,

Raman karta hai atman mein hee woh.

Hai gyan atma se rahe usee mein,

Paa leta hai shaant brahmn ko wahi.

📜 Translation English

The one who is happy within, revels in the Self and is illuminated by the knowledge of the Self, this Sankhya yogi united in oneness with the Supreme who is Truth, Consciousness and Eternal Bliss (Sachidanand Ghan) attains to the peaceful Brahmn.

💬 Commentary English

The man of discernment does not revel in transitory, perishable material objects; this indication has been given previously also by the Blessed Lord. Then what is his centre or base of his abidance? If not here, then where? The Mind will dwell somewhere or the other. It will go somewhere with the expectation of happiness. The answer to this question is in this verse.

The wandering in the external sensual objects gives an illusionary pleasure' not the real one. For this reason, such a yogi by experiencing delight in the Self dwells there only. This state is of the real, eternal experience of bliss. By experiencing the illumination of knowledge of the Self he frees himself from the darkness of the snares of useless worldly delusions, worry and concern, and indecision.

The experience of joy in the Self and reveling in it and experiencing the light of knowledge is, in fact, synomynous with abidance in the Brahmic consciousness, because the inner-self and the all-pervading Brahmn are in reality, not different but one and the same. The universal principle is as one thinks so one attains, is the way of attaining the Brahmn which is peace. Further more, lies the experience and analysis of this state.
