To give respect to tradition is the innate nature of Lord Shri Krishna, this is a fine inspiration. To forget the roots and the inclination of keeping it limited to oneself is not a healthy sign in the realm of spirituality. To know the roots in reality, to understand and accept it and to make it an inspiration for others is good and imperative. This sermon relating to the Yoga of Action is not limited to the immediate present and to this particular time. Parth! Whatever is being related to you now, it owes its origin to an imperishable tradition. At the beginning of the creation I gave this sermon to the Sun-god. The Sun-god gave it to his son Manu and Manu gave it to Ikshvaku.

The tradition was carried forward by the family. The expansion of creation was not possible by sages Sannak, Sannandan, Sanatan and Sanat Kumars. The family tradition only could make the expansion of creation possible. The remaining three stages of life i. e. students life, leaving home for the forest and life of renunciation also issue forth and are supported by family life. The family life is the stage where action should be necessarily transformed into yoga. That is why this preaching has begun according to the family tradition.

The sun existed at the beginning of the creation. The necessity of preaching also existed at the same time. From the beginning of creation the preliminary stage should be set to make action itself yoga so that the foundation may be sound, For this reason the Yoga of Action was first of all preached to the sun. The sun is always working without a break. The human being also begins his daily routine with sunrise. The Blessed Lord says that I delivered this preaching first of all to the Sun-god. The Sun-god also did not keep this tradition to himself. He handed it to Manu and Manu to Ikshvaku.

By carrying forward this tradition the Blessed Lord has entrusted householders with a special responsibility. Carry forward this tradition. Through the teachings of the Gita and by making Arjun a medium, the Blessed Lord is giving this tradition a new beginning. In the foregoing age, the royal sages had acquired it through tradition and understood it. For this reason the tradition of the past kings was of sacrifice. Observe the royal tradition of that period. At that time the tradition of the kings was that of sacrifice. Taking the hardships on themselves they kept the welfare of their subjects above all. The influence of the Yoga of Action was evident. But after this...? Just a question mark...? The Lord Himself admitted.

'Sa kaleneha mahata yogo nastah parantapa'
