Verse 21
🕉 Original Sanskrit Shloka

pṛthaktvena tu yajjñānaṁ nānābhāvānpṛthagvidhān

vetti sarveṣu bhūteṣu tajjñānaṁ viddhi rājasam

🕉 English Translation

Purush dekhta hai jis gyan se,

Sabhi praniyon ko alag bhav mein.

Nazar bhinta ayey har taraf,

Toh uss gyan ko tu rajas samajh.

📜 Translation English

But the knowledge, i.e. the knowledge through which the human being sees different expressions in all existences as different from one another, know that knowledge to be rajasic!

💬 Commentary English

The reality is the same which has been related in the foregoing verse-to understand in different expressions and situations the one essential truth and power, but everyone cannot understand in this manner. The reach of all does not extend to this Truth. That is why here is a different state in the form of rajasic knowledge.

Viewed outwardly the truth appears to be in this form, that the births are of several kinds, there are several beings assuming these births, animals, birds, insects and flies, water-borne, terrestrial, aerial and amongst them in the form of man the highest creation of Nature, even amongst humans there are so many distinctions, so many differences. Wherever the eye goes only differentiations can be viewed; the vision is also confined to that extent and even the thoughts. Discussions, thoughts and even research organizations are all founded on divisive way of thought! A lot of information is being gathered, but all displaying and encouraging this separateness and distinctions in different ways and forms-this is the state of rajasic knowledge.
