Action in the form of these three attributes Sattvic, Raja, and Tamas-under the influence of these attributes this whole world and all beings are under the state of delusion, for this reason they do not recognise Me as the imperishable who is beyond the attributes!

All the three attributes are from the Supreme, but these attributes are not in Him. He is in every manner above them. The goal of human being is also that by utilising these three attributes and transcending them they should reach the transcedental, taintless, one without a second, imperishable power. Take that to be the base, refuge and everything and keep your vision fixed there. In this lies the upliftment, welfare and supreme eternal peace. That lends meaningfulness to life. This also is life's knowable principle, the attainment, destination and the highest duty. But most people not taking full advantage of their discrimnation, get entangled in these three attributes, their expresions and actions.
All desire for happiness. But this thought does not get awakened. That eternal bliss lies in keeping the vision fixed on the imperishable Lord and in knowing and realising Him. It is invariably seen that the expressions of tamoguna in the form of sloth, sleep, ignorance, impure food habits and movement gives fleeting pleasure and one remains restricted to that only. Under the influence of rajoguna, greed, arrogance, cravings, attachment to the world and actions in accordance with these tendencies, apparently give a feeling of pleasure in them and cause one to remain enmeshed in them. Though satoguna is a direct step to the attainment of the Lord or Supreme yet not taking it to be a stepping stone, understand it just to be all that is required. Pure actions are good, but if in it is the desire for reward, arrogance accompanies the performance of it, and one gets restricted to assuming somewhere to be the greatest server and somewhere as the greatest devotee and at other times assuming oneself to be the highly knowledgeable. If not could not reach the essential Truth then how can satoguna allow one to attain the highest goal?
Undoubtedly, this verse is in the form of a deep thought-provoking warning. Take this in this sense only. Observe and assess yourself! Where is the impediment the inclination is facing? Which attribute is becoming an obstacle on the path of the attainment of the Divine. One has to see oneself by oneself. Such an inspiration of the Gita can play an important role in the attempt of self-examination. It may be difficult but not impossible; this very indication is given in the following verse-
