💬 Commentary English

Another display of the noble nature of Lord Shri Krishna, in the form of liberal attitude and splendid magnanimity is found here! The embodied being is a part of Him and should remain His, should be devoteed to Him and in it lies his real welfare; it is desirable too for the embodied being! The truth is that the Lord Himself desires so, but the discrimination of all is not awakened fully towards this objective. At present the mind is still guided to do actions with desire for reward; for the fulfilment of these objectives one finds a natural inclination in most people towards devotion, sacrifice and dedicated activities towards various deities. The strength of the gods and the goddesses is verily His! It is for the being to decide in whose worship lies his welfare. The Blessed Lord too is aware that sooner or later such emotions will be awakened; till such time it is not awakened. The gods towards whom the being desires to be devoted, towards those very gods I strengthen their faith. The Lord says-

It is not proper to break anyone's existing faith. It is not a good sign for the purpose of associating one with one's stream of thought, to interpret the scriptures according to one's own suitability, and to wean one away from the existing faith by giving him allurements. Gods and goddesses are nothing; what strength do they have? These people say and ask them to come and see what strength they possess themselves. In fact to work for a reward is not good. If someone gets associated due to one's reverence then it is not bad; but to associate him if some temptation is given (even if it is so-called sattvic)....! then we too are full of desires; it is necessary to give thought to this issue! If the omnipotent Lord is with great large-heartedness taking care of every minute detail then it is necessary for all of us to deliberate on it. There is a very clear, open and thought-deserving indication. Wherever and towards whichever gods the embodied being has reverence, I provide firmness to his faith in them. But the being should, however, give a thought to one particular aspect.
