One question always plagues the minds of many; why should be God believed in and why should we accept His commandments? As the things are proper. Is it not sufficient to work according to our own arrangements? This can be anyone's thinking born of ignorance, but to live life in the right manner and right direction it is essential-have faith in the Lord and abide by His commands! Our thinking is as yet veiled by ignorance; how will you arrive at a decision that your own desires, actions and knowledge are meaningful? Without acknowledging the Divine it is not possible! If the Lord is not part of our life and if life is not in accordance with His dispensation then tendencies like arrogance, attachment and then aversion, surge of emotions, jealousy, rivalry, greed, etc. will prevail; this will have a bad influence on life; the warning of the Blessed Lord:
One will have to accept that meaningfulness lies with the Lord. Otherwise, keep on desiring throughout life, keep on entertaining hopes from here, there and everywhere, 'asha he paramam dukham'! (Hope itself is the ultimate sorrow). The ultimate result is disappointment! Think what is the meaning of that expectation which leads to frustration. Even though one had engaged in action lifelong, with a worldly point view, or has undertaken dedicated sacrificial activity, charity and austerity; but it has all been done with a motive; keeping in mind the desire and attachment the for reward of worldly indulgences and objects! What has one attained? A perishable result; or reaction in the form of accumulation of impressions in the inner-self; these very impressions have taken us to agitation, veiling, bondage of action and coming and going from this world-'moghakarmanah' The Lord says, "those whose all actions are vain."
"Moghajnanah' knowledge is that which delivers one from ignorance, wisdom is that which frees one from delusion! To whatever extent worldly knowledge is accumulated, whatever information may be collected and even if the spiritual knowledge is limited to just information; and does not take the shape of wisdom-whether one possessed knowledge or does not have it, it is the same state!
In any case the goal should be the Lord only then all this is meaningful; otherwise, meaningless! The mind will be bewildered, will be enamoured of the worldly indulgences; there will be no realization of wrong and right, life will be without discrimination, life will remain distracted and agitated in indiscrimination and ignorance! Taking the wrong to be right and persisting in it; sometimes for one's benefit causing damage to others, for one's happiness inflicting sorrow on others; and sometimes in such a state that there is neither happiness for oneself nor for others-such thick covers of ignorance! If not of anyone else at least think of your own welfare-not even doing that-this is being charmed by the demoniac and fiendish tendencies! What injustice towards this valuable life! Think and resolve to remain always alert and aware towards this state!
