📜 Translation English

Those humans beings who considering themselves to be the superiormost, are self-conceited, and intoxicated with the riches and honour and out of vanity without following the injunctions, perform the sacrifices for namesake.

💬 Commentary English

The problem is just the same intellect giving importance to wealth and material objects! If not material wealth then desires; if there arises an obstacle in the fulfilment of desire then anger; if the attainment of desires goes on then arrogance and haughtiness! The intoxication does not just arise from intoxicating substances. There can also be intoxication due to wealth and objects associated with it.

Whether anyone considers such a human being superior or not, but to consider oneself superior, to say it and cause others also to state it; not just this, others should consider him as greater, accept him to the extent of being the superiormost and worthy of worship, such perverse insistence also takes place. Furthermore, even if sacrifices are performed by them they will not be in accordance with the scriptural norms, just for the sake of showing that I have performed such a great sacrifice. Even while performing the sacrifice there will be no spirit of pleasing the gods or appeasing and propitiating them, nor is there any effort for self-elevation through them! Just for ostentation and for affirming and nourishing the ego!
