One cannot deny the role and importance of self-effort on the road of knowledge of spiritual truth. That the mind should be removed from desire, longing, egoism and clinging, does not get engrossed in the thoughts of sensual objects, should engage in the thoughts of the divine; for this, effort is required. But further role is that of the grace of the Lord. It is imperative to accept the role of the grace of the divine. Even the least trace of egoism is the enemy on the path of spiritual elevation. Through self-effort in this direction there is help in purifying our inmost self; the veil of impurities and agitations is removed; rest depends on the grace of the Lord. On depending on the Lord's grace, its attainment is speeded up, and this state develops naturally-
Take it for sure that the attainment of the Divine is by His grace and not due to self-effort solely. This is also certain that when such grace is received, then the inner state will become luminous due to divine joy and knowledge. Light and darkness cannot remain together. Where knowledge is, ignorance cannot be and where ignorance is, knowledge will not be. The same issue is reiterated that worship Him with devotion; while interacting in the world, the firm bond with the Lord in the inmost self should persist. This spirit will lead to the attainment of yoga of intellect and enable us to experience the Lord in the inner-self, and will become a powerful inspiration for taking us from ignorance to knowledge or from darkness to light.
On hearing about this glorious state of divine grace Arjun felt ecstatic and then eulogizes the Lord.
