Amongst the Vedas I am Sam Veda, amongst the gods I am Indra, among the senses I am the mind, and the consciousness of the living beings.

💬 Commentary English

So many worlds and so many creations; all have been seen but not in this manner, the form in which they are visible! See them in the form of the Lord's glory. Amongst the twelve sons of Aditi I am Vishnu, i. e. Vaman. Amongst the luminaries that is the sun, moon, stars and fire, etc that emit light, the sun is the most eminent. The sun is lighted by the Lord and the sun in turn lights up all others; for this reason the sun is one of My glories. The sons of Diti were called Marutgan. For begetting sons Diti undertook arduous austerity of a hundred years; just before the completion of a hundred years Indra made an attempt to destroy Diti's pregnancy. He made seven parts of the womb carrying the foetus. The foetus was not destroyed. Then further more, he made seven parts of each of these seven parts; even then the foetus survived! There were forty nine parts which were called forty-nine Maruts! On being divided into seven parts, the radiance which remained in them, which did not allow destruction, the Blessed Lord says that radiance is My glory. There are twenty-seven asterisms and chief amongst them is the Moon which the Lord is calling His glory-

The Sama Veda amongst the four Vedas is that Veda, the verses of which are sung. For this reason the Lord calls the Sama Veda as one of His manifestation. Being the king of all gods the Lord has described Indra as His manifestation.

The potentiality of the senses is related to the mind. If the mind is attentive the ears are able to grasp the words; the nose is able to smell. The horses are in the control of the reins. The mind is the rein and the senses the horses! The predominance is of the rein. That rein, i. e. the mind is one of the Lord's glories-

The consciousness is due to which even the inert body is appearing to be active. The eyes are seeing, the speech is being delivered, hands and feet are moving; this consciousness the Lord says is My very own manifestation. The expression of these glories is to be found in various forms. Keep on deliberating-
