On the path of spiritual evolution the role of contemplation is most important. Attainment is dependent on such contemplation. As the mind contemplates, so one will become. No perfection of spiritual seeking is possible by just external activities. It is necessary to bring divine emotions into one's thoughts. What the world appears to be it is not, but if one takes this very form of it to be real then in the thoughts this world will persist. In external actions, in worship and reading of scriptures with the mind dwelling in the world-this cannot be called as devotion. That the world should be limited to practical conduct and the mind dwells in the Lord-this is the real devotion, and this is also the basis for the attainment of the divinity. For this reason along with the singing of divine glories and prayers this question of Arjun to the Lord is very useful and important.
