📜 Translation English

That Supreme status cannot be illuminated by the sun nor the moon nor even fire, on attaining which the beings do not return to the mortal world, that is My Supreme abode.

💬 Commentary English

A straight and clear inspiration for the oneness of the highest status and the Divine! He is the supreme illuminator; all get their radiance from Him. In the 12th verse the Blessed Lord will further clarify this fact. To see and understand the radiance of the sun, no torch or any other illumination is required. Behind the illumination of the sun, moon and fire the original source of light is the Lord. He is self-effulgent and others are-illumination of Nature; whereas His effulgence is beyond that of nature.

In the previous verse the issue of wisdom, i. e. of knowledge was discussed. Where the knowledge is, there is illumination; there is the Supreme too and that is also the Supreme abode-the ultimate destination of life! There is darkness in ignorance. In darkness lies the subjection to the propensities and due to this is bondage of action and as a consequence of which is the process of coming and going from this world! The subjugation to maya (illusion), ignorance and tendencies originating therefrom are not natural or state of the embodied being. The embodied being goes astray due to the darkness of ignorance, gets deluded. Realise the reality. Shri Gitaji is a forceful inspiration of the truth. Observe this, understand and bring it into practice.
