The word 'bhuyah' displays the special endearment the Lord had for Arjun. We can also feel this endearment towards ourselves. Have a firm conviction that in the sermon of the Gita, Arjun is just a representative. In actuality the inspiration of the Gita is for everyone at large. On this spirit having developed closeness of the Lord will be automatically experienced.
The discussion on knowledge has already taken place in the 13th chapter. Arjun is not as yet appearing to be aware of this knowledge. He is still under the influence of ignorance. The Blessed Lord has to keep up the tempo of sermonizing till the time Arjun firmly established in knowledge, does not utter 'stithoasmi' (Gita 18/73)! That is why the new chapter begins again with a discussion on knowledge-
The preacher of the Gita with this verse is trying to awaken the inner eagerness. The highest knowledge amongst the knowledge and the supreme knowledge I will once again describe. It is a known principle that only when one accepts the superiority of a particular fact will the eagerness arise to grasp it. The knowledge described in this chapter is the highest and suprememost as it by releasing one from the bondage of the three-fold maya will enable us to achieve the highest state of transcending the three attributes. This is the ultimate goal of life and the highest perfection, i. e. the supreme success of life too. As this knowledge helps to achieve this state, it is considered to be the highest.
To confirm what He has said, the Krishna of the Gita gives a clear signal that many sages who contemplated on the Reality have freed themselves from the bondage of unreal nature and have attained supreme perfection. Even if this clarification had not been given, there would have been no reason to doubt the divine word. Even then if it has been stated by the Lord then it should be taken in this manner that the Lord is trying to motivate us by any means towards the supreme objective of life. The reality is this too. The mind also by reading and hearing such a message feels inspired that when others have reached this state then I too can do so. At the same time this belief also gains ground that this knowledge is the means for that purpose; I must take refuge in this knowledge. In the following verse is the description of the beneficial result of taking refuge in this knowledge! Read and take inspiration
