💬 Commentary English

The depth of the philosophy of life of the preacher of the Gita Lord Shri Krishna is clearly reflected in the Gita. Behind the questions asked by Arjun this very philosophy of His is at work. In fact, the background of the Gita's sermon is based on this. If this topic was related to just the conduct or marks of the great souls who had transcended the qualities, then it could have been limited to this only. But the inspirations of the Gita are universal. Side by side is given the way of reaching beyond the qualities. That the seeker should be able to take inspiration from this point of view; this expression is significant:

There can be no wavering in devotion. 'Bhaktiyogena'-the devotion should be with the objective of union with the Lord. The centre of all hopes and beliefs should be the Supreme! There should be desire for none less nor the support of anyone else. Outwardly, worship, reading of scriptures is taking place, but if inside persists the desire for the world, the substratum is that of the world; this is deviation in devotion. Here the Lord by using the word 'sevate' (serves) has given an important indication which deserves a thought. Devotion should also not just be limited to action but should be experienced. This experience will be inside; though the senses are the means for it. Worship, reading of scriptures, visiting the temple, chanting and austerity-all these are related to the senses and it is good also; even then it is necessary to keep in mind that they should not remain confined to just bodily action, the essence should be imbibed inside. Therefore great care should be taken of the inmost self! The goal of the inner-self should be the Supreme and the support should be His too. The attributes are associated with the body; but their transcendence also has to take place inside. When the essence of devotion is imbibed inside, then the natural predispositions will transcend the attributes and this is 'brahmnbhuyaya kalpate'-is the state of becoming Brahmn. Brahmn is in any case already attained. The bondage of the qualities was responsible for the distance. The bondage of the qualities having been overcome, Brahmn is attained..
