🕉 Original Sanskrit Shloka

rūpam mahatte bahuvaktranetram mahābāho bahubāhūrupādam

bahüdaram bahudamştrākarālam dṛṣṭvā lokāḥ pravyathitāstathāham

🕉 English Translation

Kayi netra mukh hath jangha wale,

Kayi peat, paon aur bhaynak dadhe.

Prabho roop aisa maha dekh ab,

Vyakul hun main lok yeh sab ke sab.

📜 Translation English

O Mighty armed One! On seeing Your form with several mouths and eyes, many hands, thighs and feet, many bellies and appearing terrible with many tusks, all worlds are in anguish and so too am I.

💬 Commentary English

It is a matter of being awestruck! Where is the pleasing, simple and attractive form and where on the other side is this fierce form. Even on imagining one can feel terror mixed with astonishment. Arjun has previously seen the pleasing form and now he is confronted with this terrifying fearsome form-

Such signs have also been given earlier but now the issue is of viewing it directly and that too in an increased stature, because all the worlds are also viewing, that is why this statement has been repeated in this form again here; but with this spirit that all worlds are in anguish and I myself am terrified and there in anguish-
