bhayādraṇāduparataṁ maṁsyante tvāṁ mahārathāḥ
yeṣāṁ ca tvaṁ bahumato bhūtvā yāsyasi lāghavam

The mighty warriors will consider you the one who has fled from the battlefield due to fear, and in the eyes of those who held you in high esteem you will be belittled.
This sermon is necessary to motivate a human being to do acts becoming of a human being and to wean him away from actions contrary to his human existence. The nature of this preaching can take several forms. That too is according to the capability of the human to assimilate. If the intellectual ability is good then discrimination between real and unreal is enough for bringing him on the path of righteousness and to make fulfil the demand of duty. In an ordinary situation where this higher level of comprehension is wanting, there will social shame, social fear. What people will say? No, it is not right at all. These kinds of thoughts can also alert a person, caution a person for the performance of right deeds or justified action and to withdraw from wrong doings. One should not forget that in the sermon of the Gita Arjun is a representative. The sermon is meant for humanity.
