dūreṇa hyavaraṁ karma buddhiyogāddhanañjaya
buddhau śaraṇamanviccha kṛpaṇāḥ phalahetavaḥ
Compared to this Yoga of Intelligence with even-mindedness, actions with desire are of lower category. Therefore, O Dhananjay! Seek refuge in the equanimous mind, because only poor and wretched souls are motivated by the fruits of their deeds.

On every issue Srimad Bhagvad Gita has its own original thought-process and has a distinct way of imparting inspiration and caution. The word 'kripan' has been used in a splendid manner, and has been used as a serious warning. In normal usage the word 'kripan' indicates miserliness. One can have material possession and wealth but no generosity in its usage. The word 'kripan' is used in this context. The human is endowed with the extraordinary and precious wealth of intellect; by utilizing it in magnanimous manner the human can touch the peaks of greatness. But when intellect is enveloped by narrowness, and on abandoning the universe becomes confined to the desire for a particular object or generosity is replaced by the bondage of the narrowness of desire for fruit. For that the Gita has used the word 'kripan'!
