📜 Translation English

The signs of caution indicated in these verses should be observed carefully and deliberated upon seriously. For those who are seeped in indulgence for them nothing is greater than heaven. Those who believe so and also have faith in the Vedas as a means to the fulfilment of desires, the flowery speech is for outward show and is with a desire for worldly enjoyments and prosperity and it is limited to that only. This aspect of life is thoughtless, without substance and unfortunate. One has attained human birth but is still seeped in sensual gratification–no interest in yoga or thoughtful reflection, no stability. If human birth is also confined to just sensual gratification with no endeavour to attain the state of yoga then when will it be possible? The consequence of involvement in worldly indulgences is 'janan karma phal pradam'–after dying taking birth again and after birth dying again–after coming departing and after departing coming again. In this fashion one is entangled in the cycle of 84 lakh kinds of births of various kinds. Then think how one will liberate oneself from this horrrifving cycle.

💬 Commentary English

Heaven is not the goal of human life nor is it something to be attained. Virtuous deeds will entitle one to heaven; there, it is not possible to do further good deeds; there is no scope for association with good or good people, singing of religious songs and remembrance of the Lord. The virtuous deeds accumulated will get diminished; one has to return to this mortal world and again get involved in the cycle of actions and fruits of action–'shinya punyeh martyalokam vishanti' then where is wisdom to consider heaven as all?

The Vedas are not just oriented towards desireful actions. Desireful actions can be part of initial spiritual journey. Abandoning the Truth principle the Brahm was expounded in the Vedas describing only the text part of it. The Vedas undoubtedly are beyond arguments, are the base for Indian cultural traditions, inspirations and philosophical thinking. The Gita's preaching contains outstanding and different but very clear indications; observe with seriousness and try to understand and reflect and bring it into practice in day-to-day life.
