aparyāptam tadasmākam balam bhīṣmābhirakşitam
paryāptam tvidameteşām balaṁ bhīmābhirakşitam
🕉 English Translation
Ajaye saina apni hain sab aur se Raksha main jiski pitamaha khade, Pandav saina hain jeetne main aasan Raksha main jiski hain bheem balwan.

This army of ours defended by the Grandsire is insufficient. The Pandava army defended by Bhim is sufficient.

The heart of the person who lives with evil tendencies, suspicions, etc. becomes feeble naturally. Sometimes he will find his own weaknesses, his own suspicions in others. This is the plight of Duryodhana. Because of this he finds the Pandava army guarded by Bhim as sufficient. There is a reason for this as well. It has been clarified earlier. The Pandava army is more committed and better organized than the Kaurava army. It is right as well. The side where Truth and righteousness stands is bound to be more committed. Bhim is not a commander nor is he in the forefront. Still, Duryodhana is naming him and not anybody else. Because Duryodhana is all the time fearful of Bhim. He knows that despite being poisoned by him Bhim did not die. On several occasions he had outwitted him and then Bhim had taken a severe and harsh vow in the court of the Kauravas.
Here he names the Grandsire Bhishma. Duryodhana is always doubtful that Grandsire Bhishma is not with the Kaurava side from the core of his heart. His inner inclination is towards the Pandavas. This apprehension of his comes out in the form of the next verse.
