💬 Commentary English

In every st ion remain serene! Get perturbed er by inner propensities nor by external circumstances. Be at peace naturally and innately. At all times be peaceful and in every state calm. Never allow any issue pertaining to anybody or any situation to spoil one's peace of mind. This is an absolutely essential feature. Reflect definitely on this and resolutely try to develop such a mentality. On every little issue stress and perturbance will never allow one to progress in the discipline of yoga of meditation. Beware!

"Vigatabhir"-beyond fear! The propensity of fear is, in fact, a terrible one. This propensity drains out the peace which is well established! The apprehension that what I do not desire, will happen and what I desire, will not happen...just this is what is called fear. Leave it to the Lord towards whom we are going to direct our meditation. Everything is in His hands, whatever He does will be good. When the Lord Himself is with me, why should I fear! Develop this attitude and free yourself from fear.

"Brahmacarivrate sthitah" be firm in the vow of celibacy. To take this in this sense that for the conservation of physical, mental and spiritual energy and preservation of the seminal fluid celibacy is right; in this sense also restraint is necessary; but simulteaneously all the parts of the body should not be hankering after their respective sensual objects, but should be under control. This will increase the energy and strength derived from the Self, which will be helpful on the spiritual path! "Brahmachari vrate stithah"-another meaning of this can be to take a unyeilding vow to mould one's life towards the path of experiencing Brahmn.

"Manah Sanyamyah"-keep a strict and vigilant watch on the mind. There should be no laxity permitted to the mind to wander here and there in the thoughts of sensual objects. 'Maccittoh' the inner-self should not get entangled in the thoughts of the past or future plans but should be cautiously abiding in the spirit of the Supreme:

This is the groundwork to be done before going into the depths of the meditative path. Without this, meditation would get limited to just a posture only. Once when one sits for meditation, time will pass very well; but whether one will get the full benefit of meditation, it will not be so. To derive the real benefit of meditation, prior effort is not just required. While sitting for meditation "yukta asita matparah" solely intent on the Lord. Sit in the shade of His shelter. This is the Lord's loving call for the seeker. In the 61 verse of the second chapter, the Lord has used these very words. Here is also the same intimacy. In truth the joy of life lies in being one with the Lord. In any case He is our very own. The intimacy of the world is a deceit and origin of sorrow; avoid this. Taking advantage of this pious and sweet divine speech of the Lord, become eager to engage in spiritual discipline of meditation. No delay now. The benefit of the spiritual discipline of meditation...
