💬 Commentary English

To desire in order to abide in yoga is noble move in itself. Out of thousands, in one arises the keenness for it. But at that time the previously accumulated impressions are part of oneself. All of a sudden, to expect that the mental leaning should reach the state of meditation-self-absorption (Samadhi), is extremely difficult. The past accumulated impressions do not allow this to happen immediately.

Secondly, it is essential that one has to perform actions as per prior destiny. Therefore, for such seekers selfless actions have been stated as means to be employed. Perform actions but with a selfless attitude. Perform action in the spirit of yoga, making it as a goal. Due to desire-filled actions impressions have been accumulated inside, but selfless actions will do away with these accumulated impressions and the inner state will become pure.

This the stepping stone to the spiritual path-how to erase the accumulated past impressions? While there remains the taints of the impressions inside, till then ficklenessand agitation will continue to be there. A wavering and agitated mind can never in any manner achieve the state of yoga. For this reason, this indication of the Lord is given in the right context and is also apt.

Purity is the basis of single-pointed concentration. If inner state is taintless then concentration develops automatically. The disturbance of the mind is peacelessness and concentration is the state of serenity. This serene state is the state of abidance in yoga and this is the restraint of the mind; this is the essence of spirituality and the beneficial fruit of the seeker's dedication! The inspiration of the Gita is committed to bringing the seeker on this path. What is this state? What are practical expectations from this state? The speaker of the Gita gives a simple elucidation.
