💬 Commentary English

Most part of our life is spent in the allurement of sensual objects, hankering and attachment to them. See the world and the market-everything will be seen to revolving around sensual objects. Sound, touch, form, taste and smell-every sense will be seen to be drawn and attracted to its respective objects! This has been termed as a life of indulgence. The outcome of this is neither peace nor the welfare of humanity! This kind warning has been given time and again in the Gita! For becoming established in yoga, towards this objective the mind has to be in a calm state and for that a clear directive has been given to the seeker.

The objects of the senses are transitory (agampayino anitya, Gita 2/14). The contact of the senses with sensual object is the cause of grief. (Dukhynay eva te Gita 5/22). One has to reflect again and again, as old habits die hard. The external allurements are also increasing day by day. There is no other option to progress on the path of spirituality or to dwell in the state of yoga. Progressing on the spiritual path cannot be attained simultaneously with the worldly advancement. That external attractions should remain and at the same time one is able to dwell in yoga. It is impossible, absolutely impossible! Therefore means have to be adopted. The means are here: there should be detachment from sen al objects.

'Na karmasvanusajjate' no attachment to action. It is good that action should take place. Inaction is definitely not proper. But due to situation, state or for some other reason too, if remaining away from earthly, worldly actions is warranted, then one should be able to do so. One should not become so engrossed in worldly action that it should seem to be the all and end all of existence. It should not become impossible to remain without them. It often happens that attachment to actions leads to many troubles. Therefore beware. In one's real nature there is actually no action involved. Sometimes one should have the spirit of immersing oneself in this state; it will be life's spectacular joy! When this is totally possible, then why should one deprive oneself of it? But onemore condition! 'Sarva sankalpa sannyasi-the relinquishment of all resolutions.

Do not get astonished nor get nervous. When detachment to sensual objects and action born out of them takes place then there is no need to relinquish resolutions separately. Resolutions do not have any separate existence. The cause is external attractions; protect yourself from them! Practise to remove the existing accumulated attraction of sensual objects. The state 'yogaudhastadocyate' i. e. to be established in yoga is not beyond one's reach! It is for us and our right too; there should be no worries; just efforts practice and faith are required. When it happens, then this state will be achieved. Then why the delay? Let yourself be filled with enthusiasm.
