yam labdhvā cāparam lābham manyate nādhikam tataḥ

Sthith ho gaya ek baar isme jo,

There is always a desire to gain something or the other, in ordinary human life. Where there is a possibility to gain more than what is acquired previously, then the mind naturally inclines in that direction. "Jimmi prati labh lobh adhikayee" (Manas). When one gains something, the greed for more arises. The truth is that the human being is in the race for happiness. The acquisition which promises greater happiness, man goes after that. Here the issue is of greatest happiness. Such happiness which is the ultimate, highest and everlasting; before this, it is not experienced in the least.
Unique happiness, unbroken happiness, divine happiness, permanent happiness, ultimate happiness-whatever words are used, all of them are appropriate as they are synonyms. After attaining this ultimate happiness there is no desire for any other attainment in the mind. For this reason, it becomes the personal experience of the fortunate seeker. He acknowledges it himself. This is a special magnificence of this state. The greatest sorrow of the world cannot cause dislodgement from this state. After attaining this state one often faces adverse circumstances and disturbances. But the mind matures so much into this state of ultimate bliss, that come what may there is no effect.
Prahlad faced the hard onslaughts of the circumstances. He was thrown from the mountain, mad elephants were set on him, he was also thrown into the terrible fire, but in every state he was unmoved. The box containing the snake, the cup of poison and so many grievous sufferings; but Meera's mind remained immersed in devotion of Krishna and the smile originating therefrom remained unchanged. Some on being hanged on the gallows kept smiling, some were put in the boiling oil, some were tied to the running cart-such terrible sufferings; but blessed is this state on attaining which there is no question of getting shaken. This is in actuality the yoga of the Gita for which the Lord is once again providing motivation.
