💬 Commentary English

What a clear indication! Gradually by mellowing down His fierce form the Lord. is once again displaying His dearness and intimacy for Arjun. In fact, showing the fearsome form was also essential. At times too much of intimacy takes one away from the reality and the state of fear enhances the inner love. The Lord showed His fearsome form. It was required; it also caused Arjun to become alert. Now the Lord is dispelling the doubts in his mind with great ease and skilfulness-

Grandsire Bhishm and Guru Drona had a special place in Arjun's mind and it was not easy for him to slay them and there was a doubt too regarding the incurring of sin by killing them. Here the Lord gave a clear indication that they have competed their age; do not fear or get distressed. Similarly, Karna and Jayadrath were endowed with great strength, energy; the Lord too by especially taking their names indicated towards all other warriors that consider all of them to be dead. You just fight and expel the anxiety from the mind that they will conquer us in the war or we will conquer them (Gita 2/6). Take for certain that victory in the war will be yours.

Keep your faith firm. The Lord is supremely compassionate. Leave all to Him. Do not allow your faith to shake; make Him your charioteer and when you have done so then do not have the least bit of anxiety; victory is definite. What was Arjun's state on hearing this is described in the words of Sanjay-
