📜 Translation English

O Great soul! O primal cause of Brahma and greater than all! Why should they not pay homage to You! O Infinite! The Lord of the gods! Refuge of the universe! Whatever is beyond, what is and what is not and even that which transcends these, You are that who is the Supreme.

💬 Commentary English

This adoration is not just a web of words nor overstatement or exaggeration. Many a time to meet one's selfish ends one may exaggerate while eulogizing. But whatever can be said of the Lord it is definite that He will be something beyond that. The scriptures while stating in detail about the Lord ends up stating 'na iti na iti' not this, not this. In any case the Lord is beyond the reach of words and speech. A glimpse of the same can be had in this emotion filled eulogy of Arjun. There are two states-of being and not-being. The power which is ever same, in the same form and equanimous always, in which there is no imagination for mutation, the question of destruction of that can never arise, that is being or real and the one which is subject to change every moment, does not remain the same, cannot remain, separation is inevitable that is non-being or unreal! But Arjun says that You are the reality but non-reality is also non-different from You; without You that does not have any existence, that too You are and the one which is beyond the senses, mind and intellect, the essential truth which is beyond the reach of speech which is indescribable, the ultimate truth which transcends the reality and the non-reality that too You are. The experience of Shahenshah Ram (Swami Ram Tirth)-'Mukaam pucho toh la makan tha, na Ram hee tha na mai vahan tha. Liya jo karvat toh hosh ayah, Ki Ram mujhme mein mai Ram mein hun. If the enquiry was made about the destination it turned to be without an address. There was no distinction between 1 and the Lord. When I awakened to the reality of my true Self I realised that Ram was in me and 1 in Him. Brahma is assigned the department of creation of this universe; but You are the creator of even Brahma. You are the primeval creator of Brahma; therefore, You are superior to all. There is none in this creation which is anywhere, ever greater than You. You are without an end and, therefore limitless, immeasurable. You are the master of all gods, the Lord of all. The entire universe is finding refuge in You; You are the abode of the universe. All kinds of salutations, prostrations are apt for You. There is glory and honour in paying homage to You.
